My Night of Sunken Temple, or, How I Learned The Meaning of “Bad Dungeon Groups”
Something I’ve heard Nick complain about while playing WoW, is that sometimes his raid or dungeon groups are bad. I never quite understood what that meant, so I just kind of went with it, figuring that he was just being picky.
Sadly, I learned exactly what he meant by a bad group last night while trying to complete two Sunken Temple quests.
In my experience before last night, dungeon groups went like this: I picked DPS or Healer and then would follow everyone else. Simple.
Unfortunately, that is not AT ALL how last night went. So without further adieu, I’ll begin my tale of the drama that was Sunken Temple:
Group 1: none of us had any idea of what to do. I was the highest level player in the group, and I’d only done Sunken Temple once, but it was with Nick, which means that I just followed him and looted things. They wanted me both to tank and DPS despite the fact that I didn’t know the temple.
Needless to say, I died. And because I was teleported into the temple, I had no idea how to get back into it. Then, while I was taking forever trying to figure out how to get back in, the group kicked me out. And then I couldnt’ find the freaking Spirit Healer.
Group 2: So, while dead, I queued for a new dungeon. Once the group was assembled, I wasn’t teleported because — everyone together now– I was dead. And they weren’t very helpful in trying to give me directions on how to get into the temple AND I still couldn’t find the damn Spirit Healer.
So I finally just submitted a GM ticket and a very nice GM ended up rezzing me. On that note: the GM was great! And now I want to interview a GM to find out if other people in-game are as ridiculous/clueless as I am.
Group 3: I ended up not accepting this group because I was in the middle of an escort quest that was surprisingly fun because it was a dwarf with gumption. And then someone shot him. That was horrible.
Group 4: So I finally get with a group that was all around my level and knew the dungeon. So they were MUCH better, except for the fact that there was a SUPER annoying guy. Like, he kept trying to start philosophical discussions during the dungeon. And it was his first time in it, so anytime the dungeon guide told him to jump or wait or whatever, he would argue with the DG! ARGH!
And then in the room with the Jammal’An the Prophet, everyone died and I had the same issue of not being able to get back into the dungeon….so Nick ended up logging into my account, getting me into the dungeon, and then I logged back in to finish the dungeon.
All told, that was about a 4 hour ordeal. AND. I didn’t actually complete one of the quests (a pally quest that requires me to collect feathers off of trolls)….so I’m going to have to go back to the effing place and do it all again.
Maybe if everyone prays, I’ll get a good group this time?
